Tim Southee equals Dhoni in incredible Test batting record

Tim Southee, a veteran New Zealand bowler, and Test skipper equals MS Dhoni record for most sixes in the longest format on Saturday during his team’s home game against England.

Amid their disastrous home Test series, New Zealand, who are having a lot of difficulties coping with ruthless England, found a moment to savor when their skipper Southee added another feather to his cap during the ongoing second Test.

James Anderson, the top-ranked Test bowler, and the rest of the England bowling attack caused the hosts’ batting lineup to collapse, but Southee responded for his team with an unbeaten 23 off just 18 deliveries.

Before the rain forced an early stop to day two here, the captain blitzed England while hitting two sixes.

During his brief innings, Southee hit Stuart Broad for his second six of the game, passing former Indian captain Dhoni’s record of 78 sixes in the longest version of the game.

In just 131 innings—13 fewer than Dhoni—Southee reached the milestone. On the third day of the ongoing second Test, he has the chance to exceed Dhoni’s total.

The New Zealand record-holder Brendon McCullum, whose total of 107 sixes was just broken by England captain Ben Stokes, is far ahead of the pacer.
