On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) started hearing PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s appeal against the Toshakhana case conviction.

Amjad Pervaiz, an attorney for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), began outlining his reasons against the suspension of the former prime minister’s prison term.

Latif Khosa, Imran’s attorney, had concluded his remarks during the last session.

Arrest of Imran

On August 5, authorities took Imran into custody from his residence in Lahore shortly after a district and sessions court in the federal capital found him guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison in the Toshakhana case. He is currently being held at Attock Prison.

Imran complained in his petitions about the ruling from the Additional Sessions Judge, Islamabad (West), dated August 5, which resulted in his conviction for violating Article 174 of the 2017 Election Act.

Further, Continuing, he stated that the contested order was unjustified and that there might be a possibility of overturning it.

The petitioner claimed that the learned trial judge had decided to convict and punish the appellant regardless of the case’s merits when he rendered the impugned ruling. They claime that the appellant had not receive a fair or adequate opportunity to be hear before rendering the contested judgment.
