The federal government has informed the Supreme Court that military courts have started hearing civil cases.
Trial of civilians in military courts: In accordance to the court’s ruling of August 03, the government informed the top court in a variety of petitions of the start of civilian trials.
In its submission to the court, the government stated that they detained a total of 102 people following the occurrences of May 09 and May 10.
According to the petition, holding and completing the trials for the arrested individuals is essential. To ensure that those eligible for acquittal can receive it and that those eligible for minor sentences, who have already served time in custody, can also be releas, this will be carrie out.
“Furthermore, accused persons, if convicted, can avail remedies available under the law,” the motion said.
The argument further states that the results of the trials for these accused individuals will continue to be contingent on the proceedings of the Supreme Court.
The submission stated that they detained the accused individuals in accordance with the Official Secrets Act of 1923 and the Pakistan Army Act of 1952.
However, Authorities have detained a total of 102 people for their involvement in the attacks on military installations, including those from GHQ Rawalpindi, Corps Commander House Lahore, PAF Base Mianwali, ISI Establishment Civil Lines Faisalabad, Sialkot Cantonment, Hamza Camp, Gujranwala Cantonment, and Bannu Cantonment, as claimed by the application.
