Twitter’s CEO Linda Yaccarino defended the company’s decision to temporarily limit the number of tweets users may view each day.
Twitter CEO Defends New Tweet Policy: Yaccarino responded to the criticism on Twitter and stressed the necessity for audacious actions to develop the platform. This was her first time addressing the restrictions made known by Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, on July 1.
Earlier, Musk had stated that he put the temporary cap in place to deter system tampering and excessive data scraping. Users have, however, expressed irritation since the announcement by posting screenshots showing their inability to access any tweets after surpassing the limit, including those from corporate advertisers. Marketing experts have also expressed concern that these limitations would make it more difficult for Yaccarino to draw advertisers to its platform.
In response to criticism, Twitter emphasised that the restrictions had only had a minor impact on the majority of its users. The business defended the action by claiming that it was necessary to take drastic actions in order to remove spam and bots from the platform in order to protect the legitimacy of their user base. Around the same time, when Twitter enforced the need for users to connect into their accounts in order to access tweets, they also enforced the cap.
In the meantime, Facebook’s parent firm, Meta Platforms, has revealed intentions to roll out Threads, a microblogging programme. The launch is perceived as a direct assault to Twitter, which has come under heavy fire ever since Elon Musk purchased the social media platform in 2022 for USD 44 billion. The launch of Threads by Meta Platforms shows increased rivalry in the microblogging market, which could present Twitter with new difficulties in the future.
