British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that they have not yet made a decision about discontinuing the northern leg of the HS2 high-speed train project.
UK high-speed railway project: Media sources suggest that due to significant cost overruns, the second leg of HS2, from Birmingham to Manchester, will be scrappe, even though the first leg between London and Birmingham is already under construction.
Sunak stated that he wanted to take his time to decide what was best for the nation.
While speaking to BBC television from Manchester, where the Conservative Party is hosting its annual conference, he stated, “I know there’s a lot of speculation, but all I can say is I won’t be compelle to make a premature decision.”
