US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari over the phone about Pakistan’s economy and matters pertaining to Afghanistan.

US secretary of state telephones Bilawal: Secretary Blinken underlined a “productive US-Pakistan partnership” in a phone call with FM Bilawal, according to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

The secretary and foreign minister also discussed Pakistan’s and the United States’ common interest in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan as well as the destabilising impact of Russia’s conflict against Ukraine.

Secretary Blinken emphasised the US’ unwavering commitment to the people of Pakistan during the call with FM Bilawal, emphasising that the US continues to place a high premium on Pakistan’s economic development.

In addition to our strong commercial and investment ties, the secretary emphasised that the US would continue to engage with Pakistan through technical and development projects.

In addition, he praised the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for approving a package to aid Pakistan and pushed for more reforms to help economic growth and prosperity.
