As part of continuous efforts to make X, previously Twitter, into a so-called “everything app” offering a wide range of services, the platform will soon support video calling.

X video calls are coming to app: X CEO Linda Yaccarino disclosed the information during an interview with CNBC on Thursday.

According to Yaccarino, Sara Eisen of CNBC, “soon you won’t have to give your phone number to anyone on the platform in order to make video chat calls.”

It makes reasonable that X would eventually join the party considering that virtually all social media platforms currently provide video calling. Observing the reception of the feature will be intriguing.

Following Musk’s acquisition of the platform for $44 billion in October, X has experienced significant volatility, prompting the hiring of Yaccarino in June to stabilize the situation.
The former NBCUniversal executive has also taken on the task of transforming X into an all-encompassing app, a concept Musk has extensively discussed.

When the business changed its name from Twitter to X last month, the transition really got under way.

“Rebranding Sparks Liberation: X’s Ambitious Plans to Reshape Social Interaction and Monetization”

“The rebrand really represented a liberation from Twitter,” Yaccarino claimed. “A liberty that made it possible for us to get go of our ingrained ways of thinking. And to rethink how everyone, how everyone watching and listening on Spaces around the globe. It will alter how we socialise, amuse ourselves, and conduct business on one platform.

In addition to video calls, the platform has further plans, which include features such as enabling platform users, friends, and creators to send payments.

In addition to allowing users to monetize their shared material, X has begun to offer other functions like online banking and shopping, with the overarching goal of streamlining routine chores by providing them on a single platform.

However, not everyone appreciates these apps. Privacy advocates, for instance, worry that a single platform storing so much information on specific users could expose them more widely in the event of a security incident.

For instance, the common app has been successfulized by China’s WeChat. Yaccarino believes she can help X in the same way.
