Google’s video streaming service YouTube increased the cost of both its monthly and yearly premium plans in the US.
YouTube hikes prices US premium plans: According to the company’s website on Thursday, the YouTube Premium plan would cost $13.99 a month in the U.S., an increase of $2 from the previous price. Its yearly package now costs $139.99, a $20 increase.
It wasn’t clear if the price increases would also be implemented in other markets. A comment from Google was not given to Reuters right away.
A new feature that YouTube released in April for its premium subscribers allowed them to host Google Meet sessions so that they could watch videos on the platform with other users.
Additionally, it raised the price of YouTube Music in the US by $1 to $10.99. The action comes after comparable pricing increases by Tidal, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
